01-09-2025: If you're fishing for carp and tench and you catch a bream, it's quite a disappointment. Oh well, it was the only fish I managed to catch. And I'd rather catch a bream than none at all.
07-09-2025: I've fished at this spot in Boskoop before. Normally, I always manage to catch some carp and tench. Today, they weren't interested for the first few hours. Luckily, some friends stopped by to chat. And just as I was about to head home, I managed to catch a carp after all.
Every year in September, I go fishing on vacation with a few former colleagues. This year to the Ardennes in the east of Belgium. For us Dutch people, it's a beautiful area to go to. By car, you can get there in about 3 hours. The hills immediately give us a vacation feeling. We fished in two ways. In the Outhre with feeder rods for barbel and chub. And one day in the carp pond at the campsite.
12-09-2025: After a 3-hour journey, we arrived in the beautiful little town of Barvaux. Unfortunately, I lost my first barbel. But after catching a chub, I fortunately managed to net a nice barbel.
After this nice catch, we drove to our vacation address. Okay, it wasn't luxurious. But why pay a lot for accommodation when you can buy fishing gear for this money instead.
13-09-2025: Okay, really nice fish weren't swimming in the lake at the campsite. But it was definitely a fun day for my colleagues. Just a nice day hanging out together and not making it too difficult in terms of fishing.
14-09-2025: Today we went back to the river Outhre to catch some beautiful barbel fish. The first fishing spot was in Hotton. Especially the place will hold more memories in the future than the fish. But that one carp that I managed to catch on the feeder rods was truly a pearl
After this carp, it was quiet. A nice opportunity to go fishing with my new centerpin rod. Despite the beautiful nature, this was also a bit of a struggle. Unfortunately, I only managed to catch one chub.
15-09-2025: A weekend actually goes by way too quickly. On Monday we had to go home again. But to make the most of this day, we decided to go fishing for a few more hours. For me, this decision turned out well with 2 beautiful barbel.
27-09-2025 till 29-09-2025: The weekend trip to the Ardennes went so well that I drove to Belgium again this weekend. This time we did not fish in the Outhre River, but in one of its tributaries, the Embleve. On the first day, we walked along the river with a centerpin, using a worm as bait. I soon managed to catch several chubs, minnows, and some small trout. The last trout really made the day perfect.
28-09-2025: On Sunday, after visiting the Remouchamps caves, we went fishing at the same spot as on Saturday. This time not with the centerpin, but with the feeder rods, hoping to catch some barbel. At the first spots, it was quiet, until my wife came up with the good idea to fish near the bridge in the center. This is the last place where you are allowed to fish in the Emblève with the Waalse fishingpermit. After losing two barbel, I still managed to catch 4.
