17-12-2023: This year, December is not the best month to go fishing. The past few weeks it has only rained, and they predict this for the last two weeks as well. Luckily it was dry today, so we went pike fishing. After a pike that came loose I managed to catch this pike.
18-12-2023: I love to fish in nature, but sometimes I also go into the big city. Today my wife had to be in Rotterdam for work. A city full of traffic, noise and worst of all full of dog poop..., But also full of pike! Today I managed to catch two of them. What I like most about fishing in the city is the reactions of all the residents. They are so surprised that these fish swim in the canals. It was a nice day in which, apart from two pikes, I met a lot of nice people.
25-12-2023: It keeps looking for days when it is dry enough to go fishing. Luckily today is one of those days so I can fish for a few hours just before the family comes for Christmas.

2023 is a year with a lot of highs and a lot of lows. Actually, we can divide the year into three periods, January to June in which everything went well. June and August which were fun because of the move, but also quite tough. And September to December in which I have been sick several times and it kept raining in the Netherlands.
-January to June: Both the pike season and the first carp holiday were very promising. Certainly carpfishing went beyond expectations.
-July and August: Both months were tough, but also fun because finally one of my dreams came true and I was able to build my own 'fish cave' in the barn. All the fishing gear I've collected over the past 20 years now has its own place.
-September to December. Various fishing holidays to Ireland and France were planned. Unfortunately I was still sick during the holiday in Ireland and during our week in France we had maybe 4 hours of dry weather. And the rain has barely stopped in the last 3 months. But 2023 was also another fantastic fishing year.
