05-07-2019 till 07-07-2019: This weekend we went to bungalow park Herpenduin in Herpen. The Hertogswetering is two kilometers from the campsite, a beautiful ditch where I had hoped to catch a few pike. Unfortunately, it was not possible to catch a pike, but two nice bass.
12-07-2019 till 19-07-2019: We just returned from a week holiday in Iceland and of course we fished there. We had all our fishing gear neatly disinfected with a statement from a vet the way Icelandic law wants it. However, we had no control at the airport and we were able to continue. The fishing permits for trout fishing were arranged in this way, given that every gas pump sold it. It is advisable to buy this because we have been checked several times. We ended up fishing in three ways: Coastal fishing, sea fishing from a boat and fishing in the lakes for trout.

From the hotel we went fishing a few evenings from the nearby harbor. We have fished in two different ways. 1: with a piece of mackerel on the bottom with which we mainly caught flounders and small Pollock. B: with shads with which we managed to catch cod and scorpion fish. In particular, the scorpion fish that my oldest son caught was a fish to dream of.

The first days we were searching for the best way of trout fishing. With the license you can buy at any petrol station you can fish in 34 lakes of Iceland. Nowadays the most lakes are already a few kilometers wide, so with just a spinner it will not work. In the end it was the solution for us to place a Sbirulino at 50 cm above the spinner so that we could throw much further.

We fished in 5 lakes:
Kleifarvatn: 3 char caught, 5 trout/char lost.
Vifilsstaoavatn: No fish seen.
Ellioavatn: A large trout followed the spinner but refused to bite.
Meoalfellsvatn: 1 brown trout caught, 1 trout/char lost.
Pingvallavatn: 14 char caught. 10 trouts/char lost

Of course we fish to catch but sometimes we also have to enjoy the nature around us, especially in these places!
Nature of Iceland
Of course a number of photos of nature in Iceland cannot be missed.
sea fishing from a boat
Okay, Iceland is anything but cheap especially for a family with 5 people. Nevertheless, a day of sea fishing from Reykjavik is recommended. Several Whiting, Haddock, Mackerel and Cod were caught. Of course my eldest son caught the biggest Cod and unfortunately my wife lost a Wolffish. But what a wonderful day we had!

23-07-2019 till 24-07-2019: With temperatures between 30 and 35 degrees it is to hot for both fish and fisherman during the day. That is why we fished tonight from 8:00 pm until 8:00 am this morning. Despite an invasion of mosquitoes in the tent, we still caught 2 carp. Now i need a very cold shower and then we will look if we can sleep for a few more hours.
