01-10-2023 till 7-10-2023: Finally we are going on a big trip again. This time my wife and I flew to beautiful Ireland to go sea fishing from the small town of Wicklow for 5 days.
02-10-2023: In fact, every fisherman hopes to catch a fish soon. After all, the most important fish is usually the first of the trip. But sometimes it can also go too quickly because I managed to catch my first and immediately the biggest tope within 10 minutes. After that I started focusing more on Lesser spotted dogfish and whiting.
03-10-2023: On Tuesday the intention was to catch more species. At the spot where two helicopters collided during a film shoot in the 1970s, we managed to catch a number of pollacks among the wreckage. Then we went drifting along the coast hoping to catch some wrasse and conger eels. Unfortunately the current was too strong so we started fishing on tope again. Fortunately I managed to catch a nice flounder.
04-10-2023: Wednesday morning we sailed again to the same place where I caught my tope on Monday. Unfortunately, after 3 hours of fishing, none of the fishermen had gotten a bite. The skippers then proposed to sail half an hour from the coast where there was a deep channel. Here too, the first hour was very quiet, but from one moment to the next things started happening. I managed to catch two small topes and my wife a nice Bull huss. As a bonus, several Lesser spotted dogfish were caught.
05-10-2023: My wife always enjoys going for a day of walking during her fishing holidays. Because they predicted wind force 6 on Thursday, we decided not to go fishing that day but to visit the town of Wicklow. In the morning we visited an old prison from the 18th century and in the afternoon we walked along the coast where we saw several seals. Ultimately this was a very good choice as the other fishermen came back early and in the end they only managed to catch two dogfish.
06-10-2023: Actually, Friday went exactly the same as Wednesday. We didn't catch anything at the first fishing spot either, after which we went back to the deeper channel. This time we did not catch any tope, but we did catch 3 Bull huss and about 8 Lesser spotted dogfish. A nice ending to another great adventure.
20-10-2023: I have been looking forward to this holiday for a long time. But afterwards I was only able to fish 1 day out of 7 days. October is always a gamble in terms of weather, but this year it was really cold and it rained non-stop. Fortunately, despite my severe toothache, we were able to fish for a few hours on Friday. And besides the nice weather, we also managed to catch two nice sea bass.
31-10-2023: After I came back from Normandy I didn't really feel well, tired, some fever and an infected tooth. But luckily things went a bit better today and I was able to fish for a few hours again.
