01-01-2020: 2020 will be a great year with new fish challenges. Until September a project at my work means i have to work a lot overtimes, but hopefully after August there will be some more rest so we can go fishing more often. But does this mean that we will not go fishing until September? ...... O no, there are a lot of vacation's coming.

What will we do in any case in 2020:

-A week pike fishing in the north of the Netherlands

-5 nights carp fishing in the Netherlands.

-A week  carp fishing in Morocco.

-A week trout fishing in Belgium.

-4 nights  carp fishing in a famous water in Belgium.

-A weekend carp fishing in a small pond in the Netherlands.

-Two weeks  fishing for different fish species in Norway.

But first the difficult months of January and February are coming in which unfortunately it is not always easy to catch a fish. Just like everywhere else in the world, temperatures in the Netherlands are still high for the year. After a few nights of frost, the temperature will rise again in the coming week, but it is waiting for an east wind that can still drop the day temperature below freezingpoint.

04-01-2020: 2020 couldn't have started better! During  pike fishing from a boat we managed to catch the first two pike of the year. Of course my youngest son caught a pike that was bigger than mine .....

10-01-2020: After two days of heavy rain, the sun was shining today. A sign for me to see if the pike had warmed up. After a nice small pike, the second pike was a big fat one, the third pike unfortunately managed to escape.

13-01-2020: I don't know what will happen in 2020, but after the first meter  pike on Friday, something strange happened today. Of course a pike was caught during the pike fishing ......

Okay, catching a pike while pike fishing is of course not strange but what happened after I caught this pike....... Within 5 minutes I got another bite, but it was much more powerful. At first I thought that another meter pike hung on the lure, but after 30 minutes this carp came up. The lure was on the outside of his mouth so if he really wanted to get the lure or that I accidentally hooked the carp I dare not say!

17-01-2020 till 19-01-2020: This weekend we underestimated what the flood disaster in 1953 had for the water quality in Zeeland. Almost all the polder waters in Zeeland have brackish water so that pike does not occur. And in the few ditches where they should be, we were not allowed to fish with our permits. There was a carp pond at the Aquadelta holiday park in Bruinisse, but unfortunately we left our carp rods at home.

Unfortunately, even the trout did not want to bite. The water of trout fishing pond of Langeraad looked very good but was too large to find the 7 trouts of us. There is a campsite by the pond and it is particularly busy at the waterfront in the summer months. Now that the campsite is closed, there are almost no fishermen, so there is no trout in the water. The owner of the water was kind enough to give us three trout. But self-caught trout always taste better .........
