01-01-2024: The start of 2024 will be very different from previous years. Normally I can tell you in January where I will be fishing for the rest of the year, but due to the financial uncertainties that the move has caused, we have only booked a few holidays. Of course, this does not mean that we will not be fishing in 2024. We have some great ideas that we will probably book after the tax return in April.
What will we do in 2024:
-A week of pike fishing in the middle of the Netherlands.
-A week of fishing for koi carp in eastern France.
-A week of feeder fishing for barbel in northern France.
05-01-2024: The year 2024 is off to a good start. It has finally stopped raining, and even though the sun is not yet out, it is wonderful weather for fishing. The pike were also looking forward to it because within 15 minutes I managed to catch 2 pike.
06-01-2024: The weather is getting better, because the sun was shining today. Within 5 minutes I managed to hook a pike that unfortunately fell loose along the side. After two hours i managed to catch a small pike.
07-01-2024: After catching 3 pike in 2 days, I decided to make it a little more difficult for myself. This time the spinning rod stayed in the car and I went fishing for pike with the fly fishing rod. To my own surprise, I managed to catch a nice pike within 30 minutes. Unfortunately, the wind then started to get stronger, making it increasingly difficult to fly fish.
13-01-2024: It was cold today, but I had to go out to catch a pike. To my own surprise I managed to catch a pike within two casts and it was time to go to the warm stove again
16-01-2024: It has been very cold in recent days, causing several ditches to freeze. So we had to look for lakes that were not yet frozen. And even though I'm not a big water fisherman, I still managed to catch a pike between the snow showers.
22-01-2024: Because my wife had to work in Rotterdam today, I went pike fishing there. I was here a few weeks ago and managed to catch two pike and three escaped. Today was very different. Of the two bites I managed to catch 1 pike.
28-01-2024 : Finally the days are getting longer and the temperatures are higher. Today was also a great day with temperatures of 12 degrees. The pike were also looking forward to it because I managed to catch 4 of them.
31-01-2024: Actually the intention today was to catch some bass. But today the pike were feeding again. In addition to two pike I caught, I also lost 2 more.
