31-07-2020 till 14-08-2020: Actually we would have gone to Norway for the past two weeks to fish for sea trout there, but unfortunately this holiday was canceled due to corona. Fortunately, we managed to find a holiday home in our own Netherlands at the river the Maas. The price made no sense as we paid for these two weeks as much as two weeks to Norway by plane and a rental car. But it will typically be a case of supply and demand. Reluctantly I went for the first two weeks knowing that the weather would be very nice in each case with temperatures above 30 degrees. But after a day my enthusiasm got even bigger when the first fish surfaced. Were there many ?! No, but what beauties!
01-08-2020: It is always the first day to see how best to fish. But still we managed to catch two perch and a nice Ide.
02-08-2020: The second day we caught a pike.
03-08-2020: Day 3 was not a bad day! We had a fun day with a lot of action with 11 perch , some of which were nice and big.
04-08-2020: Day 4 was a very different day in terms of catches with 2 asp, 1 pike and 2 perch.
05-08-2020: Day 5 we managed to catch a asp and a perch.
06-08-2020: Day 6 was pike day with two pike and two perch.
07-08-2020: Day 7 Was a day that they didn't want to bite except for a small perch that saved my fishing day.
08-08-2020: On day 8 it finally happened what we hoped for, my oldest son managed to catch the first pike-perch. And let's not forget the 4 small bass ......
09-08-2020: Day 9 was a day when everything went well. At 6:00 am we started fishing and at 7:00 am I had already caught a pike-perch and two pike. When my oldest son was able to catch 3 bass and 2 asp, the day was all right.
10-08-2020: Day 10 was another pike day. In the morning I caught a pike at the campsite together with my youngest son and in the evening we drove to the Waal to catch a pike-perch there. Everyone catches pike-perch there, but of course I caught another pike.
11-08-2020: Day 11 was a day when the fish would not bite in the morning and a thunderstorm passed in the evening. We didn't want to go fishing at the Maas during the thunderstorm, so we went to catch roaches at the fishing pond at the park.
12-08-2020: On day 12, the family split up. I went predatory fishing in the Waal and my two sons went fishing in the fish pond at the park. I managed to catch a perch and a pike-perch and my sons 22 roaches.
13-08-2020: Day 13 started so well with a nice pike-perch, a nice perch and then a pike around the 70 cm. Unfortunately the pike did not agree that it was caught and managed to bite my thumb completely. Quickly twisted some old receipts and fishing line around the wound to connect everything professionally at home.
14-08-2020: Today was the day we had to go home again, but of course not before we had fished for a few more hours. This morning at 5:00 we wake up and my oldest son and I went fishing. The first hour it remained very quiet but after I managed to catch the first perch my oldest son went like a rocket. First he caught a asp and then immediately caught a very nice perch. After this it was quiet for a while when he managed to catch another perch and just before we wanted to stop another asp came into the net.
Okay, it was not Norway but with 8 pike, 4 pike-perch, 8 asp, 31 perch, 1 ide and 49 roaches we still had a very nice fishing holiday in our own country;)
24-08-2020: A while ago I had seen several carp swimming in a ditch during a bike ride. Unfortunately there was a lot of wind today which did not make fishing easier. Still I managed to catch 3 small carp.
27-08-2020: Today I went fishing with my wife at the carp and sturgeon pond in Dirkshorn. Unfortunately the carp did not want to bite but with 11 sturgeons including a nice albino we still had a nice day.
