01-10-2024: When you fish on large waters, it is often difficult to find the right places where the fish are. Luckily I managed to catch a nice pike within 5 minutes today. After this, despite the fact that it would remain dry, it started to rain very hard.
06-10-2024: South of Alphen a/d Rijn is a polder with beautiful pike water. Unfortunately I only managed to catch 1 pike today, but a very nice one. And with the nice weather it was a great day.
12-10-2024: Okay, of course it's fun to go fishing with your kids, they just shouldn't catch more than their dad. Also today my eldest son managed to catch 3 pike, but my net stayed dry. Luckily he allowed me to hold a pike. But this is different when you have caught the fish yourself.
18-10-2024: After weeks of having a low pressure area in the Netherlands, it has made way for a high pressure area. This is immediately noticeable in the fish catches, because the pike are a lot less hungry. But in the end I managed to catch a pike.
20-10-2024: Also today it seemed as if the pike were not hungry. To my surprise, the first animal to find my lure was a crayfish. But finally i managed to catch a pike.
28-10-2024: It was a bit of a change when we drove to our carp destination on Monday. Because this time we didn't go south, but north. The destination was Hidden carp lake in the town of Nieuwe Pekela. It wasn't the accommodation, because it looked very promising. But unfortunately I just couldn't catch more than 1 carp. We really tried everything, corn, boilies, zig etc etc. Fortunately, the province of Groningen is full of beautiful pike ditches. And luckily the pike were hungry.
31-10-2024: As indicated earlier, it was very quiet in terms of carp fishing. Tuesday we drove to Germany, where my wife gave the economy a boost with all the groceries. Wednesday we went pike fishing in old Pekela where I lost 2 pike. But on Thursday, things suddenly went well. In the afternoon we went pike fishing in a nature reserve near Schildwolde. After my daughter lost a pike, I finally managed to catch the first pike of the holiday
In the evening something happened that we didn't expect, one of the carp rods got a bite. Because the other anglers at the lake had already lost a few carp, we were very happy that we could catch this one carp.
