03-12-2024: Pike fishing in Rotterdam remains a surprise. Unbelievable how many pike swim between the bicycles and shopping carts that lie at the bottom of the ditches. Especially the enthusiasm of the passers-by gives me a lot of fun.
26-12-2024: December is a boring month for fishing in the Netherlands. Actually, only the pike are still biting.
27-12-2024: While I was free today, my wife had to work in Rotterdam again. Before she had to work, she dropped me off along one of the canals, to pick me up again after her working day at the place where I would be then. I think I walked about 8 km, but luckily the pike were up for it today. Because in addition to the 4 pike caught, I unfortunately also lost 1.

31-12-2024: While many people were already setting off fireworks, I decided to go pike fishing for the last time this year. The ponds at the University of Rotterdam have been planned for a long time. Because it is now a holiday, and there are no lessons, so today seemed like a good time. After I lost a pike, this pike was very interested in the bait. An hour later the wind started to blow harder and get a lot colder. For me, this meant that it was time to go home.

2024 was a year after I moved. In addition to a lot of fishing, we also put a lot of time and money into the house. Except for two carp and a barbel holiday in France, we have not made any distant holidays. So unfortunately no special fish caught in the past year.
But 2024 was certainly not a lost year. We caught considerably more pike than in 2023. And despite the fact that zander is not my thing, we were able to catch them a lot more.
I also started on Instagram. A medium of which I had already heard that not taking photos gets a lot of likes, but knowing how the algorithm works. And I haven't figured that out yet. But thanks to Instagram, I have contact with fishermen that I would never have come into contact with otherwise.
