01-01-2025: Just like 2024, 2025 will be another uncertain year to book now many holidays. Because I now have a larger house, but a smaller bank account, I have decided to work one day a week more.
The advantage is that I will earn a lot more, but the disadvantage is that I will lose my permanent employment this year. And have a probationary period for the first month. I want to get through my probationary period before we start booking a lot of holidays again.
But because you can't wait too long to ask for time off, especially with the school holidays, we have already booked 2 holidays.
What will we do in 2025:
-A week of fishing for carp in northern France.
-A week of feeder fishing for barbel and chub in Luxembourg.
14-01-2025: For days I didn't catch anything. But today I had more luck. After the first pike that managed to escape, I managed to catch this pike. What a great start from 2025.
15-01-2025: The pike were active again today. I managed to catch three pikes, and unfortunately I lost 1. A very nice day without wind and 10 degrees.
16-01-2025: Cold days mean big pike.
20-01-2025: Now that the days are starting to get really cold, the pike are also getting slower. Big bait, and slow fishing is now necessary. For me always the time to go fishing with streamers.
21-01-2025: It is getting colder and colder. Saw several pike swimming, but 1 that was really feeding.
23-01-2025:I don't know what it was today, but it seemed like all the pike were hungry. Because in addition to the 3 pike we managed to catch, we also lost 2.
27-01-2025: Limburg (in the south of the Netherlands) remains one of my favorite places to go. While the rest of the Netherlands is almost flat, the hills in Limburg give a real holiday feeling. Unfortunately, my permit does not allow me to fish in almost all rivers of Limburg. But in the most southern tip of Limburg lies the Geulhof trout fishing pond. A pond that had been on my wish list for a long time and where we could go fishing after a nice weekend, after which we drove home for 3 hours.
29-01-2025: One of the last days that I can go fishing at my wife's work. From next week I will be working for my new employer, and I also have to work on Tuesdays. But today we can still fish in Bergschenhoek. In the morning the fishing was disappointing. Fortunately I found a nice plug, still earned 15 euros without working;). In the afternoon the pike were more active, and I managed to catch 3 within an hour. It's still weird that you don't catch anything for hours, then 3 in an hour, and then catch nothing for hours. But it was a beautiful day, and we met nice people again.
